February 2018 Wisconsin Ag Reports

Here is what you need to know about the Wisconsin Ag reports and prices for February 2018, according to the USDA:

  • Wisconsin milk prices were $15.60 per hundredweight, 70 cents lower than last month and $3.40 lower than February 2017.  Milk production in Wisconsin during February 2018 totaled 2.33 billion pounds.

  • The February 2018 average price received by farmers for corn in Wisconsin was $3.34 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was up $0.18 from January but down $0.02 from the previous February.

  • The February soybean price, at $9.43 per bushel, was up $0.22 from January but down $0.43 from the previous February. The February oat price was $3.06 per bushel, $0.07 below the January price but $0.42 above February 2017. All hay prices in Wisconsin averaged $129.00 per ton in February, up $5.00 from January and $41.00 above February 2017.

  • Wisconsin egg production during February 2018 was 144 million eggs, down 13 percent from last month but up 15 percent from last year.

  • Wisconsin farmers intend to plant 3.85 million acres of corn, down about 50,000 acres from 2017.  They intend to plant 2.2 million acres of soybeans (50,000 acre increase). Farmers are planning on harvesting 1.2 million acres of all hay, the smallest harvested acres on record in Wisconsin.  Oats and winter wheat planted will be up 50,000 acres and 20,000 acres respectively.
