Truthfully, you should think twice before delaying a software update. While it might seem trivial, keeping software up to date is an easy way to stay safer online.
- Turn on automatic updates – Automatic updates make the software update process convenient. Search for “automatic updates” under the device’s settings.
- Watch for notifications – Not every update can be delivered or installed automatically. Devices – cell phones, tablets, laptops – usually notify you that updates need to be run. It’s important to install *ALL* updates, especially for web browsers and antivirus software.
- Install updates as soon as possible – When notified about software updates, especially critical updates, install them as soon as possible. Cyber criminals won’t wait, so neither should you.
