  1. Parfrey’s Glen – Baraboo

Parfrey’s Glen features a narrow gorge scattered with enormous sandstone-and-quartzite, moss-covered boulders. Bring your hiking boots and hike the stream bed to the end where a small waterfall awaits.

  1. Apostle Islands – Bayfield

These rough shaped, colorful red-orange rock islands in Lake Superior are a must see. The cave views are best experienced from the water. Head out on a warm summer day and schedule a guided kayak tour.

  1. Minocqua

Head up north and experience a variety of outdoor activities. With 3,000 lakes in Vilas and Oneida counties, swimming, fishing, and water sports are easy to find. Add in bike trails, hiking paths, ziplining and your weekend is complete!

  1. The Wisconsin Great River Road – Mississippi River

The Wisconsin Great River Road parallels the Mississippi River along 250 miles of the state’s western border. It’s one of the most scenic roads in the Midwest, lined with sandstone bluffs and historic river towns. Popular stops along the river include state parks, fishing, birding and antique shops.

  1. Elroy-Sparta State Trail – Elroy/Sparta

This abandoned railroad line was repurposed as a popular 32.5 mile bike trail. The Elroy-Sparta’s three old railroad tunnels connect five small towns.

  1. Peninsula State Park – Door County

Pitch a tent at Peninsula State Park campground in beautiful Door County and enjoy entertainment for the whole family including an outdoor theater, 18 hole golf course, sandy beach and a historic lighthouse.

  1. Chain O’Lakes – Waupaca

These 28 interconnected lakes are the largest inland chain of lakes in the world. Each lake has its own characteristics leaving options for whatever activities you like – waterskiing, tubing, pontoon cruising, fishing, kayaking – you name it!
