Congratulations to McFarland High School on being presented with the Boys Soccer Sportsmanship Award!

We believe there’s something more important than just winning or losing a tournament. We believe that the team, school, and fans who support their athletes with dignity and class are the true champions. That’s why we’ve proudly sponsored the WIAA/Rural Mutual Insurance Sportsmanship Award for 56 years.

We would like to congratulate McFarland High School on being this year’s recipient of the Boys Soccer Sportsmanship award.

When talking with Head Coach, Brett Ogorzalek, we asked him what this award meant to him as a coach, the team and community along with how they teach their athletes about sportsmanship.

I can’t describe how much this award means to the team and the community because this is why we compete and play the game. Success on the field is nice, but the ultimate goal is to teach life skills and encourage our players to be a positive influence on others.

Our coaching staff does an amazing job leading by example and acting as role models for our athletes. We try to implement sportsmanship into everything we do because the players will see these values in everything they do moving forward.

Coach Ogorzalek has been a coach for 13 years and his favorite part about coaching is seeing the growth and development of young athletes throughout their high school careers… and beyond.

Coach Ogorzalek commented, “We are always growing and learning to be better leaders in our community.”

Congratulation again on a great season and winning the WIAA/Rural Mutual Sportsmanship award. This is a great achievement for the McFarland community.
